<br /> 4 a. Withdrawal Rezone Request, Cheshire between Lincoln and Lawrence, McMillan - The
<br /> petitioner requested .withdrawa1 of his, request to rezone the area to RG Garden
<br /> ,Apar,tment Residential ,and refund of .the,$50.00 filing ,fee. The.petition was
<br /> filed in October 1967 and action deferred pending completion of the General Plan.
<br /> The Planning Commission recommended approval'of the request. Dr. Purdy moved
<br /> seconded by ~" ';reague to permit wiJ:h,drawal of th~ petition and refund of the,
<br /> $50.00. Motion carried.
<br /> Mr. Anderson moved, seconded py~,. Lassen to approve Item 2a of the Committee, report. _ Rollcall vote.

<br /> The Planning Commiss.iqn recommended approval. of the C-2 zone requested to allow
<br /> full development of the area for business lots. Dr. Purdy moved 'seconded by
<br /> Mr. Lassen to approve the recommendation. Motion carried:

<br /> The Planning Commission recommended approval of the requested rezoning from Public
<br /> Lanq t9 allow sale of the property.for private cq!fimer.cia1use. In making the
<br /> recommendation ,the Pl~nning Commission ~equeited that'the'School'Bo~id'be~asked'
<br /> to consider retaining the property in public ownership for use by governmental
<br /> agencies in the future. The City Manager. said it was understood it is the intent
<br /> of the School Board to retain the land and lease it for commercial use since they I
<br /> feel it eventually should be a part of the civ~c center. Dr. Purdy~moved seconded
<br /> f by Mr. Teague t~, ~ezone the property C-2 with the ~nderstanding the'School,Board'
<br /> will be requested to consider keeping it in public ownership to eventually become
<br /> a part of the civic center.
<br /> In ~nswer to a question from Councilman Lassen the City Manager said rezoning is
<br /> necessary to allow leasing by the School District for private office purposes .
