Motion cartied~

3. Purchase of City Parking Lots by. Urban Renewal - It is proposed to sell the parking lots
at 7th and Olive and 7th and Willamette to Urban Renewal for $377,000, using the money to
retire all liens and cancel all assessments. Under the option, the City would lease the
lots and pay rent of $1,000 per month for both .sites, as &ong as they continued as park-
ing lot facilities. Parking would be retained on these lots, at least until the devel-
opment plan provides alternative facilities. 'Under this procedure, it will ~ot be nec-
essary to sell Bancroft Bonds on the 7th and Willamette site, and the failpre of the State
of Oregon to pay its assessments will no longer be a problem. Anticipated receipts are
$15,477.00, whIch would leave money for maintenance of lots and meters, cleaning, etc.
The staff feels this is a good proposal, which can in no way harm the city or property
owners in the area.

ii
q
L

Mrs. HaywarG moved seconded by Mr. Gribskov to approve sale of the city parking lot located
at 7th and Olive and at 7t~ and Willamette to Eugene Renewal Agency for $377,900, using
the money to retire all liens and cancel all assessments.

I
I
I
,/

In answer to a question from Mrs. Beal, the Manager said owners who had paid their assess- I,!
ment would be reimbursed the amount of the payment, but interest would be considered a user
, fee,' and \\Ould not be reimbursed.
