Anderson at 7:30 p.m. on June 23, 1969 in the Council Chamber. Councilmen <br />present were: Mrs. Hayward, Dr. Purdy, Mr. McDonald, Mrs. Bea1 and -Mr. Gribskov. <br /> <br />Minutes of the Council meeting held June 9, ~969 as mailed to council members_were~ approved. <br /> <br />Appointments - Under terms of transen~ room ,tax ordinance the Mayor appointe4 a Transient Room Tax <br />Committee to supervise collection procedures and administration of the ordinance. This will not be <br />the committee to consider proposals for expenditure of funds. <br /> <br />Mr. Wm. Addison - accountant;~\3 year term; -Mr. Don Bick, attorney, 3 year term; Mr. Don Dennis,- <br />I motel operator, 3 year term; Mr. J. O. Explanation of Item 4 - Manager asked to clear up misunderstanding regarding Item 4. ii <br />This item will be discussed at meeting of June 18, as previously announced. A report 1'1' <br />I will be distributed at today's meeting. I <br /> <br />'j b. Rose Show - Dr. Purdy commended the Parks Department for work on the Rose Garden. The ' <br />I rose show this weekend was a treat for those who attended. i <br /> <br />c. Traffic' Problem, University District - Mrs. Bea1 'distributed copies ~of a letter from Ii <br />Mrs. lone Pierron, calling attention to the traffic situation occurring in the section i <br />I west of the University and east of Wi11amette. She was particularly concerned about ii <br />I blind corners caused by landscaping too near to rights-of-way. Ii <br /> <br />I Director of Public Works said Planning Commission had recommended that this area,be Ii <br />I used for installation of traffic diverters. This might ease the problem, but would :i <br />necessitate, designating another street as an a:rter:i:al. Regarding landscaping, the ;', <br />City at the present time asks property owners informally to remove offending shrubbery, , <br />I but has not exercised its right to remove it forcibly. . <br /> <br />~1 'I' Councilwoman Bea1 asked for Traffic Department and Police Department review of this <br />~ situation, and report back recommendations ~bout changes. <br />Ii , _ <br />II 6/23/69 _ 1 ~ <br />
