Therefore~ a public hearing should be <br /> I, scheduled on the recommendations of the traffic department for experimental traffic diverters. <br /> II <br /> II <br /> :i Mr. Gribskov moved seconded by Mrs. Beal that a public hearing be scheduled for the meeting <br /> II <br /> " of September 13 regarding installation of traffic diverters to possibly alleviate the South 'I <br /> " <br /> , <br /> ii Willamette noise problem. Motion carried. <br /> I <br /> 'I <br /> !, <br /> I' Discussion and public hearing of September 13 - A trial change to alter traffic patterns <br /> ,I I <br /> " <br /> " <br /> :1 has been suggested on Portland Street between Crest Drive and 29th Avenue. Assistant <br /> 'I <br /> I, ,City Manager reviewed the problem and gave a.bistory of the recommendation. He outlined 'I <br /> ii a neighborhood meeting and reactions to proposals presented. He explained that there , <br /> ;i are two separate problems - one of noise~ and the other~ excessive traffic on a residen- <br /> ii <br /> " tial street. The conclusion has been reached that the suggested proposal would be the <br /> I, <br /> " most successful to prevent traffic from using a neighborhood street to turn around and <br /> II <br /> Ii would eliminate some of the weekend noise. The adjustments would be placed as a temporary <br /> Ii measure~ with another meeting to be held with residents for their reactions, after a " <br /> " ., It <br /> I! <br /> I' short time. Mr. Martin explained a problem brought up by the Fire Department~ and <br /> ,I <br /> " <br /> Ii solutions which had been found to the problem. <br /> " <br /> !I I' <br /> I' Mr. Otto Becker~ 36 West 30th~ said he was not entirely in favor of this proposal~ since :I <br /> " <br /> ,I it would cut his property in half.'
