I Mrs. Campbell expressed inTerest in continuing the hearing, since there were people
I:
,\ hearing at this time might be redundant.
Ii Mr. Teague moved seconded by Mr. Mohr to adopt the Planning Commission recommendation
.'
'I that action on the agreement for Highway 126 (Roosevelt Freeway) be postponed. This :1
II
Ii recommendation for postponement is the result of unanswered questions which were ':
1\ raised at the Commission's two public hearings on November 16 and 18. This postpone- e
ment was further supported by a recommendation by the City Manager that a decision "
:i 'I
regarding this contract be delayed by both the Commission and the City Council until
an Environmental Impact Study has been submitted for their review.
Mrs. Beal was impressed with the amount of work the Planning Commission had put into
its recommendation and suggested the Council adopt the entire recommendation, includ-
ing items 1, 2 and 3. She asked to amend the motion to include these portions. I
Mayor Anderson suggested Mr. Teague's motion be voted upon, and then Mrs. Beal
cguld make this as another motion. She withdrew her amendment.
Mrs. Campbell was concerned that there were councilmen who had not attended the
Planning Commission public hearings, and that this public hearing should continue,:
Mayor Anderson said if this ~otion passed, public hearings would be postponed until
further information was available through an environmental impact study. Comments
Ii would be redundant, since much of the information was on record through the Planning
II Commission hearings.
ji Councilman Mohr commented that his reason for not seconding Mrs. Beal's motion was
Ii that he intends, at the Wednesday committee meeting, to prepare for Council review
I: a program which may accomplish many of the recommendations, but in a different form.
I'
" He could see the Planning Commission recommendations were well thought out, and he I
Ii Mayor Anderson again commended the Planning Commission for its hearings, and said
much of the material could provide input into the environmental impact study.
'f City Manager commented that many letters, petitions, etc. had been received, and
Ii
these will be placed on record and used in conjunction with material from public hearings.
