<br /> M I NUT E S <br /> e Eugene City Council <br /> City Council Chamber <br /> September 24, 1986 <br /> Noon <br /> COUNCILORS PRESENT: Debra Erhman, Emily Schue, Cynthia Wooten, <br /> Freeman Holmer, Ruth Bascom, Roger Rutan, Jeff Miller. <br /> COUNCILORS ABSENT: Richard Hansen. <br /> The adjourned meeting of September 22, 1986 of the Eugene City Council <br /> of Eugene, Oregon, was called to order by His Honor Mayor Brian B. Obie. <br /> 1. ITEMS FROM MAYOR, CITY COUNCIL, AND CITY MANAGER <br /> A. Eugene Celebration <br /> Ms. Ehrman, chairperson of the Eugene Celebration, discussed the Celebration <br /> souvenirs that were in the sacks at each councilor's place. She said the <br /> Celebration will begin on Friday, September 28, 1986. She introduced Irwin <br /> e Noparstak, chairperson of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall replica <br /> committee. Mr. Noparstak said the replica will be erected on September 25, <br /> 1986, in Skinner Butte Park. The opening ceremony for the replica will be at 6 <br /> p.m. on September 25. The replica will remain at the site for a week. <br /> Ms. Wooten introduced Margaret Smolnisky who discussed the competitions that <br /> will be held during the Celebration and Ms. Wooten discussed the professional <br /> skateboard competition. Ms. Wooten also introduced Dean Camarda and Guy <br /> DiTorri ce. Mr. Camarda discussed the Film and Video Competition and the Star <br /> Search. Mr. DiTorrice discussed the Celebration Run and fund raising for the <br /> Celebration. <br /> B. Economic Development <br /> Mr. Rutan said he is pleased about the opening of a new Rax Restaurant on River <br /> Road. <br /> Mr. Rutan invited other councilors to attend events of Development Expo which <br /> begins September 25.
