<br /> . <br /> e M I NUT E S <br /> Eugene City Council Work Session <br /> Tour of Social Service Agencies <br /> October 18, 1989 <br /> 11:15 a.m. <br /> COUNCILORS PRESENT: Ruth Bascom, Rob Bennett, Shawn Boles, Debra Ehrman, <br /> Bobby Green, Freeman Holmer, Emily Schue. <br /> COUNCILORS ABSENT: Roger Rutan. <br /> The adjourned meeting of October 16, 1989, was called to order by His Honor <br /> Mayor Jeff Miller. <br /> 1. TOUR OF SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY <br /> RESPONSE TEAM <br /> Councilors visited three social service agencies working with the Community <br /> Response Team (CRT) in an effort provide services that will enhance the <br /> e safety and comfort of the public in targeted areas of the city. Lieutenant <br /> Jim Hill accompanied the council on its tour. <br /> Buckley House Detoxification Program and Referral Services, 605 West 4th <br /> Avenue, provides a residential intervention program that treats alcohol and <br /> drug-intoxicated persons. Hillary Larson and Al Neubauer guided councilors <br /> as they viewed the facility. <br /> Ray Barnes welcomed councilors to the Eugene Mission, 1542 West 1st Avenue. <br /> Director Ernie Unger answered questions during lunch and led a tour of the <br /> facility which provides food, clothing, and shelter to homeless men, women, <br /> and children. <br /> At Whitebird Clinic, councilors were met by Bob Dritz, who escorted them <br /> through the clinic's two buildings. Mr. Oritz explained how the Crisis <br /> Assistance--Helping Out On The Streets (CAHOOTS) van component of the CRT <br /> functions as a cooperative effort between public safety officers and social \ <br /> service providers. <br /> .e MINUTES--Eugene City Council October 18, 1989 Page 1 <br />
