Ms. Pressman introduced the members of the Board of .
Directors of the Foundation and briefly described the background of each m~mber.
She said that the foundation had requested this chance to speak with councilors
to let the council know what the foundation is doing. She said that f6undation
members understand and share the fiscal concerns of the council.

B. History of the Foundation and its Relationship to the City

Gary Williams said that the foundation was incorporated in June 1978 as the
Eugene Community Foundation, in recognition of the fact that the revenues gener-
ated by EPAC would not be great enough to meet all the costs of running the
center and replacing worn equipment, as well as in recognition of the importance
of fostering and maintaining the health of local arts groups. He said that the
foundation recognized the need for continuing private support for the center and
for local arts groups, in addition to the support that the City can provide.

MINUTES--Eugene City Council

January U, 1982

Page 1
