Ordinance Regarding City's Participation in State Revenue Sharing <br />Program (memo distributed) <br /> <br />CB 2407--An ordinance electing to receive State revenue sharing <br />funds distributed through the Oregon Liquor Control <br />Commission account for the fiscal year ending June 30, <br />1983, and declaring an emergency. <br /> <br />Ms. Schue moved, seconded by Ms. Smith, that the bill be read the <br />second time by council bill number only, with unanimous consent of <br />the council, and that enactment be considered at this time. <br /> <br />Ms. Wooten stated that the State L~gislature may be considering raising taxes on <br />liquor and cigarettes and retaining the increase rather than distributing it to <br />cities. She asked if information is available about this. Warren Wong, Finance, <br />stated that he has received no information on this yet. However, when the <br />Legislature last increased these taxes, the increased reserve was kept by the <br />State. Ms. Smith stated that 50 percent of the increase may go to education, <br />with 50 percent of the reserve remaining with the State, according to what is <br />currently being considered by the State Legislature.
