Hamel, Mark <br /> Lindberg, Betty Smith, Cynthia Wooten (11:45-12 Noon). <br /> ABSENT: Mayor Keller, Emily Schue <br /> Adjourned meeting of the City Council of Eugene, Oregon, was called to order <br /> by Council President Brian Obie. <br /> I. ADOPTION OF FY83 CITY OF EUGENE BUDGET (memo, ordinance distributed <br /> previously) <br /> CB 2492--An ordinance adopting the budget, making appropriations <br /> determining and levying the annual ad valorem property <br /> tax for the City of EUsJne for the fiscal year beginning <br /> July 1, 1982, and ending June 30, 1983; and declaring an <br /> emergency. <br /> Ms. Miller moved, seconded by Ms. Smith, that the bill be read <br /> the second time by council bill number only, with unanimous <br />e consent of the council, and that enactment be considered at this <br /> time. Roll call vote; motion carried unanimously. <br /> Council Bill 2492 was read the second time by number only. <br /> Ms. Miller moved, seconded by Ms. Smith, that the bill be approved <br /> and given final passage. Roll call vote; all councilors present <br /> voting aye, the bill was declared passed and numbered 18995. <br /> II. ITEMS FROM MAYOR & COUNCIL, APPOINTMENTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AGENDA ADJUSTMENTS <br /> A. Announcements <br /> Ms. Miller noted this was the date the ERA died and she chose to wear her "NO" <br /> button to mark the date. She commented that she was not wearing a black arm <br /> band because she was not in mourning; the ERA will be reintroduced in Congress. <br /> Ms. Miller read a portion of a speech given by JillRuckleshaus at the 1977 <br /> convention of the National Women's Political Caucus: "We are in for a very, <br /> very long haul. I am asking for everything you have to give. We wi II never <br /> give up. You will lose your youth, your sleep, your patience, your sense of <br /> humor, and occasionally, the understanding and support of people that you love <br /> very much. In return, I have nothing to offer you but your pride in being a <br /> woman and all of the dreams you have ever had for your daughters and nieces and <br />e- grandaughters, your future and the certain knowledge that at the end of your <br /> days you will be able to look back and say that once in your life you gave <br /> everything you had for justice." <br /> MINUTES--Eugene City Council June 30, 1982 Page 1 <br />
