PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> A. Annexation/Rezoning Request for Property Located on the East Side <br /> of Prairie Road and South of Beltline from County M-3 Heavy Industrial <br /> Di strict to City M-2 Li ght Industrial Di strict and the City Industri al <br /> Sign District (Lloyd Maxwell)(A/Z 82-1) (memo, map, background informa- <br /> .tion distributed) <br /> . Recommended approval by Planning Commission September 21, 1982 Vote--5:0 <br /> City Manager Micheal Gleason introduced Tom Hayes, Planning. Mr. Hayes sai d <br /> that the council had considered this annexation and rezoning request at its <br /> September 25, 1982, meeting and had agreed to hold the item over pending <br /> resolution of discussions with the Lane Rural Fire Protection District (LRFPD) <br /> for provision of fire service to the subject property. He sai d that the council <br /> had originally asked to hold the item over to November 15 but that staff had <br /> requested further postponement to this meeting. Mr. Hayes noted that copies of <br /> the agreed-upon contract had been distributed to councilors at the commencement <br /> of the heari ng. He said letters regarding the request from the Southern Pacific <br /> Rail road (SPRR) and from the Irving Grange had al so been distributed to the <br /> counci 1 . He said the letter from SPRR voiced opposition to the City's policy of <br /> non-contiguous annexation, and the letter from the Irving Grange opposed the <br /> withdrawal of the land in question from the LRFPD taxing district. Mr. Hayes <br /> noted that the latter question had been dealt with as a result of the contract <br /> wi th LRFPD. <br /> Public hearing was opened. <br /> Those speaking in favor of the request: <br /> LLoyd F.
