Councilor Wooten, stating that she had served on the <br /> subcommittee which considered the issue, clarified that the Planning Department <br /> had considered the project a high priority and had not cut funding. <br /> Mr. Gleason stated that, although there was not a moratorium on annexations, the <br /> City of Eugene viewed its intergovernmental relations seriously and would not <br /> take actions which would jeopardize them. <br /> Mayor Keller commented that the proposed period of study, a year, seemed a long <br /> time. Ms. Jones responded that it could be completed sooner, but that all three <br /> jurisdictions had staffing problems. Mayor Keller asked that a sense of urgency <br /> be encouraged. <br /> Res. No. 3790--A resolution concerning a joint elected official task <br /> force for studying the jurisdictional responsibility <br /> of Glenwood. <br /> e Councilor Schue moved, seconded by Councilor Obie, to adopt the <br /> resolution. Roll call vote. The motion carried unanimously, 8:0. <br /> Mayor Keller asked members of the council to let him know if they wished to <br /> serve on the task force. <br /> V. CODE AMENDMENT CONCERNING DISPOSAL OF PERSONAL PROPERTY <br /> Mr. Gleason introduced John Rutledge, Eugene Police Department, who reviewed the <br /> staff memorandum on this item, asking for a code amendment which would permit <br /> the police department to destroy confiscated weapons. In response to questioning <br /> from councilors, Mr. Rutledge said that the weapons were currently stored in the <br /> police department basement, and that if the code amendment was approved they <br /> would be destroyed with a hacksaw or other suitable tool. <br /> CB 2669--An ordinance concerning disposal of personal property; <br /> amending Section 2.835 of the Eugene Code, 1971; and <br /> declaring an emergency. <br /> Councilor Schue moved, seconded by Councilor Obie, that the bill <br /> be read the second time by council bill number only, with unanimous <br /> consent of the Council, and that enactment be considered at this <br /> time.
