<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />M I NUT E S <br /> <br />Eugene City Council <br />Special Meeting <br />McNutt Room, City Hall I <br /> <br />January 23, 1984 <br />7 p.m. <br /> <br />INTERVIEWS FOR DOWNTOWN COMMISSION <br /> <br />COUNCILORS PRESENT: Brian Obie, Freeman Holmer, John Ball, Cindy Wooten, Dick <br />Hansen, Emily Schue, and Betty Smith. <br /> <br />The special meeting of the Eugene City Council began at 7:05 p.m. with the <br />council interviewing the following person: <br /> <br />Linda Devine <br /> <br />Following the interview, the council discussed how to proceed since Ada Lee had <br />withdrawn her application from consideration. It was suggested that the council <br />re-advertise and take the responsibility for seeking candidates. Council acknow- <br />ledged that Linda Devine would be considered again when the decision on whom to <br />appoint is made. Discussion followed. <br /> <br />Councilor Smith moved, seconded by Councilor Hansen, that the council re-adver- <br />tise the position for 30 days and that the council members take responsibility <br />for seeking candidates for the Downtown Commission position. <br /> <br />Discussion followed on the appropriate length of time to advertise. <br /> <br />Councilor Holmer moved, seconded by Councilor Hansen, to amend the motion from <br />30 days to two weeks. <br /> <br />The motion carried 5:2, with Councilor Smith, Hansen, Obie, Wooten, and Holmer <br />voting aye, and Councilors Ball and Schue voting nay. <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned to the City Council meeting in the Council Chamber at <br />7:25 p.m. <br /> <br />(Recorded by Bob Hibschman) <br /> <br />RAH:cj/CM62b27 <br /> <br />MINUTES--Eugene City Council Special Meeting <br /> <br />January 23, 1984 <br /> <br />Page 1 <br />
