Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan Partnership (memo attached) <br />Mr. Gleason introduced the item. <br /> <br />M~or Obie opened the public hearing. <br /> <br />Tom Hoyt, 460 Palomino Drive, commended the Council for its courage and <br />wisdom when it took a bold step and approved the Eugene-Springfield Metro- <br />politan Partnership. People from outside the area do not see several juris- <br />dictions. They see a metropolitan community. The Council courageously <br />accepted a pledge from the private sector to meet the debt assumed by the <br />Partnership from the Oregon-Pacific Economic Development Corporation. <br />People can contribute to economic development now with the knowledge that <br />the jurisdictions are working together. <br /> <br />Mayor Obie closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />C. Bill French of the <br />Planning Department was present to answer questions. <br /> <br />~ Mayor Obie opened the public hearing. <br /> <br />There being no testimony, M~or Obie closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />CB 2804--An ordinance renaming Atlantic Avenue to Pacific <br />Avenue and Pacific Avenue to Atlantic Avenue. <br /> <br />Ms. Wooten moved, seconded by Mr. Hansen, that the bill be <br />read the second time by council bill number only, with <br />unanimous consent of the council and that enactment be con- <br />sidered at this time. <br /> <br />Answering a question from Councilor Erhman, Mr. French said the Public Works <br />Department will change street signs and L-COG will update the computer <br />maps. Mr. Gleason said the City usually does not encourage or support <br />street name changes because they are difficult to implement.
