<br /> 5. City Business License Procedures <br />-- Mr. Holmer noted that the City had discontinued licensing door-to-door <br /> sellers. One of his constituents felt threatened by a person selling <br /> door-to-door at night. Mr. Holmer was told by City employees that numerous <br /> complaints have been received. He said the subject deserves attention. <br /> 6. National Council on Public Works Improvements <br /> Mr. Holmer said there have been two organizational meetings of the National <br /> Council on Public Works Improvements. He is a member. The group is inter- <br /> esting and has the attention of a number of public agencies and public <br /> interest groups. <br /> B. Announcements <br /> l. Citizen Participation Month <br /> Mayor Obie announced that September is Citizen Participation Month. The City <br /> currently has 46 openings on boards, commissions, and committees. Applica- <br /> tions are available in the Permit and Information Center and the City <br /> Manager's office. Applications must be received by October 4, 1985. On <br /> September 16th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Conference Center, there will be a <br /> reception to encourage women to seek appointments to City positions. <br /> 2. Capital Budget Subcommittee <br />e City Manager Micheal Gleason announced that the Capital Budget Subcommittee <br /> will meet September 19, 1985, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber. <br /> Several councilors asked to have the subcommittee meeting on another day. <br /> 3. Permit and Information Center Open House <br /> Terri Vanderpool said the Permit and Information Center will be dedicated <br /> Friday, September 27, 1985 at 1:30 p.m. She referred to her September 11 memo <br /> to the Mayor and City Councilors and suggested councilors contact her if they <br /> would like to add people to the invitation list. She said the Center will be <br /> open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, for the public. <br /> Mayor Obie suggested the councilors sign the symbolic permit with him. <br /> C.
