CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Eugene City Council was called to order by His <br />Honor Mayor Jeff Miller. <br /> <br />II. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS <br /> <br />Mayor Miller introduced Michael Teninty, who provided interpreting for the <br />hearing impaired. <br /> <br />Eugene City Councilors were introduced and took their places on the podium: <br />Emily Schue, representing Ward 1; Ruth Bascom, representing Ward 2; Debra <br />Ehrman, representing Ward 3; Paul Nicholson, representing Ward 4; Kaye <br />Robinette, representing Ward 5; Bobby Green, representing Ward 6; Shawn <br />Boles, representing Ward 7; and Roger Rutan, representing Ward 8. <br /> <br />Ward 1 Councilor-elect Randy MacDonald was introduced and joined the council <br />on the podium. <br /> <br />III. RECOGNITIONS <br /> <br />Mayor Miller presented plaques to five individuals whom he described as typi- <br />fying the community's spirit of volunteerism. <br /> <br />Ruben Cot a was unable to attend the meeting and his award was accepted by Joe <br />Rivera. Mr. Cota was recognized for his commitment to human rights and ser- <br />vice to the Hispanic community. <br /> <br />Sue Prichard was recognized for her contributions to the community on down- <br />town issues and her commitment to parent education and child abuse preven- <br />tion. <br /> <br />Terry McDonald was recognized for his response to the needs of Eugene's low- <br />income citizens and his commitment to housing the homeless. <br /> <br />MINUTES--Eugene City Council <br /> <br />January 7, 1991 <br /> <br />Page 1 <br />
