CALL TO ORDER. <br /> <br />The .regul ar meet i nq' of the Eugene City Council was called to order by Hi s <br />Ho;nor Mayor Jeff Mi II er. <br /> <br />II. WELCOME ANDlNJRODUCTIONS <br />.1, <br /> <br />Mayor Miller introduced his wife Mary, daughter Jennifer, son Chris, and aunt <br />Ruby. <br /> <br />Eugene City Councilors were introduced and took their places on the podium: <br />Randy MacDonald, representing Ward 1; Ruth Bascom, representing Ward 2; Debra <br />Ehrman, representing Ward 3; Paul Nicholson, representing Ward 4; Kaye <br />Robinette, representing Ward 5; and Bobby Green, representing Ward 6. Ward 7 <br />representative Shawn Boles and Ward 8 representative Roger Rutan were unable <br />to attend the meeting. <br /> <br />III. RECOGNITIONS <br /> <br />Mayor Miller presented plaques to four individuals whom he described as typi- <br />cal of those in the audience who represent the community's spirit of vol un- <br />teerism. <br /> <br />Jim Torrey was recognized for his leadership in forging positive business <br />relationships between th~ public and private sectors. <br /> <br />Connie Mesquita was recognized for helping to further cultural diversity <br />through her leadership at Lane Community College. <br /> <br />Norman Metzler received recognition for his efforts toward providing shelter <br />to homeless citizens~ <br /> <br />Laurie McClain was recognized for working to build positive relationships <br />between the Whiteaker neighborhood and the City of Eugene. <br /> <br />MINUTES--Eugene City Council <br /> <br />January 6, 1992 <br /> <br />Page 1 <br />
