<br />MINUTES <br />EUGENE CITY COUNCIL <br />February 10, 1976 <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was called for <br />the purpose of selecting members for the newly formed Handicapped Commission. The <br />special session was called to order by Council President Gus Keller at 5:00 p.m. on <br />Tuesday, February 10, 1976, at City Hall with the following Council members present: <br />Eric Haws, Wickes Beal, Neil Murray, Bill Hamel, Gus Keller, Edna Shirey, Tom <br />Williams, Ray Bradley. <br /> <br />The following people were interviewed for membership on the Handicapped Commission, <br />interviews conducted by Council President Gus Keller: Betty Bergman, Robert Blizzard, <br />Chris Casady, Evelyn Casady, Paul Clement, Carol Hammons, Jeff Hicks, Carol Johansen, <br />Elizabeth Waechter, Martin Weideman, Alice Plymell, Martin Ravelette, Tom Spaulding <br />and Donna Tyvoll. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of the interviews, the Chair instructed each Council member to vote <br />for six candidates after which, to complete the roster, each Council member voted <br />for two additional candidates. By virtue of the balloting, members selected for <br />the Handicapped Commission were: <br /> <br />~e <br /> <br />Chris Casady <br />Betty Bergman <br />Alice Plymell <br />Robert Blizzard <br />Paul Clement <br />Jeff Hicks <br />Carol Hammons <br />Carol Johansen <br />Martin Weideman <br /> <br />1627 Linnea Avenue <br />730 Fair Oaks Drive <br />1887 Fircrest Drive <br />1732 Barton Drive <br />432 West 6th <br />2010 Fairmount Blvd. <br />1417 Mesa Avenue <br />2440 Panorama Drive <br />2101 Delta Street <br /> <br />1/1/79 term expiring <br />1/1/79 <br />1/1/79 <br />1/1/78 <br />1/1/78 <br />1/1/78 <br />1/1/77 <br />1/1/77 <br />1/1/77 <br /> <br />Terms were established according to the number of votes cast for an individual, <br />Chris Casady being named temporary Chairperson by virtue of receiving the most votes. <br />It was agreed that two additional candidates, who received the next most votes, would <br />be considered as alternates in case one of the nine selected members could not accept <br />the appointment. The alternates were: Elizabeth Waechter, 34994 East Danstrom, <br />Creswell; and Lew Merrick, 3395 Kincaid. <br /> <br />Neil Murray moved and it was seconded to officially designate the nine <br />selected candidates as Handicapped Commission members.
