<br />M I NUT E S <br />EUGENE CITY COUNCIL <br />June 11, 1979 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was called to <br />order by His Honor Mayor Gus Keller at 7:30 p.m., Council Chambers, June 11,1979, <br />with the following Councilors present: Jack Delay, D. W. Hamel, Eric Haws, Scott <br />Lieuallen, Brian Obie, Gretchen Miller, Emily Schue, and Betty Smith. <br /> <br />I. REPORT ON SISTER CITY KAKEGAWA VISIT BY DR. ROBERT CLARK, SISTER CITY <br />PROGRAM CHAIRMAN <br /> <br />Dr. Clark introduced some of the members who visited the sister city. A <br />detailed draft of the visit will be finalized and filed with the City. He <br />showed a picture of the famous Kakegawa Bridge. He stressed the serious- <br />ness of the growing relationship between the two cities. They visited <br />schools, iris gardens, tea fields; stayed in Japanese homes; exchanged <br />gifts; attended formal banquets. .A poster of pictures was distributed and <br />it was requested that Carol Baker develop some posters for further distri- <br />bution. Mayor Keller received an elegant fabric picture from the Mayor of <br />Kakegawa. A delegation from Kakegawa headed by the Mayor will be in <br />Eugene August 3 through August 5, and Council voiced their thanks and <br />support for the program. <br /> <br />II. Rezoning from M-2/SR Limited Industrial District and Industrial <br />Sign District to R-1 Single-Family Residential with Residential <br />Sign District property located on the west side of Bertelsen north <br />of 18th (Hecker) (79-8 )-- (Map di st ributed )--Unanimously recommended <br />by the Planning Commission on April 3, 1979. <br /> <br />Mr. Greg Byrne said that the rezoning involves a single tax lot <br />bounded on three sides by residential zoning; a single tax lot to <br />the south retains limited M-1 industrial zoning. <br /> <br />No ex parte contacts or conflicts of interest were declared by <br />the Councilors. <br /> <br />Staff notes 'and mi flutes were entered into the record. <br /> <br />Public hearing was held, and Mr. Jim McAlexander, representing <br />Dick Becker, endorsed recommend~tion of staff and said that he. <br />is available for questions from City Council. <br /> <br />Public hearing closed. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />6111/79--1 <br /> <br />321 <br />
