ITEMS FROM MAYOR AND COUNCIL, APPOINTMENTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AGENDA ADJUSTMENTS

A. Items From Council

Mr. Hamel indicated that a group of citizens wished to speak at the
Monday, February 11, Council meeting to talk about the swimming pool
closure and requested that this group be allowed to speak.

Mr. Delay asked if this should be dealt with at the Wednesday,
February 20, Council meeting when a staff report would be given.

Mr. Henry confirmed that a status report on rehabilitation of Jefferson
Pool is scheduled to be given at the February 20 Council meeting.
Better and more complete information should be available at that time
regarding attempts being made to secure funding for such a project.
Also, tentatively, a Joint Parks meeting is scheduled to be held at
4:00 p.m., February 20, to discuss the pools and the long-term program.

Ms. Miller added that Joint Parks Committee will have some background
on the condition of Jefferson Pool and the financial situation to
consider at that point. She pointed out that it might be more effi-
cient to wait to hold the public hearing until after the Joint Parks
Committee met.

Mr. Haws said the Council would not have to act as quickly if it is
only the rehabilitation of Jefferson Pool which would be discussed;
but if the Council is to reconsider the decision to close the pools,
the discussion should take place quickly since the first pool closure
will take effect on February 9.

Mayor Keller asked for clarification of the Council IS position on
hearing citizen input regarding Jefferson Pool. Ms. Miller also asked
for clarification as to whether the discussion would focus only on
Jefferson Pool or on the rotating pool closure due to the budget

2/6/80--1
