Meetings <br /> Mr. Henry stated that the Citizen Involvement Committee would be <br /> meeting on Thursday, August 14, at 11:30 a.m. at Perry's. The meeting <br /> on August 21 has been canceled. <br /> The Emergency Medical Services Task Force met yesterday and will meet <br /> again on Tuesday, August 26, at 1:30 p.m. <br /> F. Goal-Setting Session <br /> Mr. Henry stated that the council needs to decide if Don Murray should <br /> participate in this goal-setting session. In October, there are <br /> possibile dates for holding the session: October 10 and 11, and <br /> October 17 and 18. <br /> Mr. Delay questioned ending the session by noon on the 18th because of <br /> the football game. He has a problem with a firm deadline like that <br /> for ending the session. He would assume the format would be as it has <br /> been in the past. Mr. Henry suggested that the meeting could start <br /> , earlier on Friday. Mayor Keller suggested that perhaps they could <br /> begin Thursday evening and have all day Friday and until noon on <br /> Saturday. <br /> - Council consensus was that the goal-setting session would begin <br /> Thursday evening, October 16, and adjourn at noon on Saturday, <br /> Oct. 18 . Mr. Henry indicated they are investigating use of the <br /> University President's house as a facility. Mayor Keller stated that <br /> if anyone from the public has an available house or facility they <br /> should let him know. <br /> G. Information from Special Legislative Session <br /> Mr. Henry stated that the Lane County and Metropolitan Area boundary <br /> commissions have been funded for the remainder of this fiscal year on <br /> a 70-percent State--30-percent local share basis. Since one-third of <br /> the local contribution is to come from filing fees, Eugene1s voluntary <br /> contribution will be approximately the same amount committed earlier <br /> this year, just under $5,000. The June 30, 1981, sunset date remains <br /> in effect and due to lack of legislative support, a third boundary <br /> commission covering Marion and Polk counties and part of Yamhill <br /> County will be dissolved December 1, 1980. The House sustained the <br /> Governor's veto of the police-fire retirement increase bill which <br /> would have mandated additional cost to local governments. A veto <br /> override passed the Senate in regard to collective bargaining S8 58 <br /> but it was defeated in the House. The building moratoria bill, SB <br /> 890, was repassed by both the House and Senate. House Bill 2967, <br /> billboard compensation, was defeated in the Senate after passing the <br /> House. In regard to the State budget cut, any programs that provide <br /> - significant revenues to cities and property tax relief programs passed <br /> by the 1979 session will not be reduced. <br /> 8/13/80--3 <br />
