COUNCIL CONSIDERATION OF PROPOSAL TO DEVELOP A 911 EMERGENCY COMMUNI- <br /> CATION SYSTEM TO SERVE LANE COUNTY (memo and additional information <br /> distributed) <br /> Mr. Henry stated that the purpose of this item is to gain council support <br /> so Eugene can take a leadership role. He stated that Jim Packard, Police <br /> Department, Ev Hall, Fire Department, and Galen Howard, L-COG, were <br /> present to provide additional information. This item will be before the <br /> L-COG Board in October. Action today will be to provide guidelines to Ms. <br /> Schue as to how she should vote as a member of the L-COG Board. This <br /> proposed ordinance would levy a telephone tax of one percent initially, <br /> and up to three percent later, on local calls countywide. Lane County <br /> will have to pass the ordinance, so the item will come up for public <br /> . <br /> 9/24/80--4 <br />
