<br /> M I NUT E S <br /> e Eugene City Council <br /> City eouncil ehamber <br /> October 28, 1981 <br /> 11 : 30 a. m . <br /> COUNCILORS PRESENT: Gretchen Miller, Brian Obie, Betty Smith, Mark Lindberg, <br /> D. W. Hamel, Eric Haws, Cynthia Wooten, and Emily Schue. <br /> Adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was <br /> called to order by His Honor Mayor Gus Keller. <br /> 1. ITEMS FROM MAYOR & COUNeIL, APPOINTMENTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AGENDA ADJUSTMENTS <br /> A. IIBed and Breakfastll Accommodations Proposals <br /> Councilor Obie stated that staff from a City department is encouraging the City <br /> Council and the Planning Commission to move on this issue. The council needs <br /> staff input regarding zoning change possibilities and other issues before <br /> it can act. Mr. Gleason responded that he would follow up on this item. <br /> B. Metro Plan <br /> e Ms. Miller stated that she and Mayor Keller are pleased to announce that Eugene, <br /> Springfield, and Lane County will have one Metropolitan Plan to present to LCDC <br /> as a result of a vote of the Elected Officials Coordinating Committee. She <br /> thanked staff for their efforts, especially Steve Gordon, Jim Farah, and Gary <br /> Chenkin, as well as past and present Planning Commissioners, MAPAC, and the City <br /> Counc il . <br /> C. Metro Wastewater Funding <br /> Ms. Smith stated that the House of Representatives passed a bill, 382-18, <br /> providing $53 billion in sewage construction funds for 1982. This is extremely <br /> good news. This means the City could get up to $7 million for the local facility. <br /> The House version of the bill also retains 75 percent Federal funding and it <br /> looks as though the Senate will follow the House lead. The EPA/DEQ focus will <br /> be to fund plants already under construction. She will ask staff to prepare <br /> copies of an Oregonian article to distribute to the council. Mayor Keller <br /> added that Steve Bauer, League of Oregon Cities, stated the Senate passed <br /> a similar bill on a voice vote. Ms. Miller agreed that this is good news. <br /> D. CPR Training <br /> Ms. Miller said that training classes will be provided by the Eugene Fire <br /> Department. There are three options for when these classes could occur: <br /> 11/18--1:30-4:30 p.m., 11/18--7-10 p.m., and 11/19--7-10 p.m. She requested <br /> that the council choose two of these times and invite administrators/board <br /> e <br /> MINUTES--Eugene City Council October 28, 1981 Page 1 <br />
