<br />Mr. Carlson highlighted the primary goals identified for the West Eugene Parkway:
<br />
<br /> 1) access controlled east/west connecting arterial between Highway 126 and the I-5 and 1-105
<br /> corridor
<br /> 2) improved access to West Eugene businesses via direct connection at strategic crossroads (a
<br /> controlled access arterial, with connections at strategic roads)
<br /> 3) better link between west Eugene areas with downtown
<br /> 4) implement an important part of TransPlan
<br /> 5) relieve congestion and improve safety on West 11th Avenue
<br />
<br />Mr. Carlson reminded those present that the project had been originally identified in 1978, modified in
<br />TransPlan in 1986, and the route was approved in 1986 by 80 percent of the those voting. In the various
