RESOLUTION NO. 5303 <br />A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE EUGENE-SPRINGFIELD AREA MULTI - <br />JURISDICTIONAL NATURAL HAZARDS MITIGATION PLAN 2020 AND <br />REPLACING THE PLAN ADOPTED BY RESOLUTION NO. 5126. <br />The City Council of the City of Eugene Finds that: <br />A. On February 9, 2015, Resolution No. 5126 was adopted approving the December <br />2014 "Eugene -Springfield Multi -Jurisdictional Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan." The Federal <br />Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA") requires that Natural Hazards Mitigation Plans be <br />updated every five years. <br />B. The City of Eugene recognizes the threat that natural hazards pose to people and <br />property within our community. <br />C. Undertaking hazard mitigation actions will reduce the potential for harm to people <br />and property from future hazard occurrences. <br />D. An adopted Multi -Jurisdictional Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan is required as a <br />condition of future funding for mitigation projects under multiple FEMA pre- and post -disaster <br />mitigation grant programs. <br />E. The City of Eugene fully participated in the FEMA-prescribed mitigation planning <br />process to prepare the Eugene -Springfield Area Multi -Jurisdictional Natural Hazards Mitigation <br />Plan 2020 attached as Exhibit A. <br />F. The Oregon Office of Emergency Management and Federal Emergency <br />Management Agency, Region 10 (X) officials have reviewed the "Eugene -Springfield Multi - <br />Jurisdictional Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan 2020," dated January 2020, and have pre -approved <br />it contingent upon this official adoption of the participating governments and entities. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE, a <br />Municipal Corporation of the State of Oregon, as follows: <br />Section 1. The "Eugene -Springfield Area Multi -Jurisdictional Natural Hazards Mitigation <br />Plan 2020" attached as Exhibit A is adopted and replaces the Plan adopted by Resolution No. 5126. <br />Section 2. The City Manager, or the Manager's designee, is requested to submit a copy of <br />this Resolution, including Exhibit A, to the Oregon Office of Emergency Management and Federal <br />Emergency Management Agency, Region 10 (X) officials to obtain formal approval of the Plan. <br />Resolution - Page 1 of 2 <br />
