RELATED CITY POLICIES <br />The boards, committees and commissions serve as advisory bodies to the City Council in the <br />development of various city policies. <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br /> <br />The City Council may: <br />1. Appoint applicants who have been nominated; <br />2. Appoint other applicants from the pool, or <br />3. Seek additional candidates for these positions. <br /> <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER’S RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />The City Manager has no recommendation on this item; the appointments are made by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTIONS <br /> <br />Budget Committee <br />There are four vacancies on the Budget Committee. Nine applications were received, including <br />two current members who wished to be reappointed. From this pool, the council chose to <br />reappoint two members in the initial round and to interview six other applicants on October 5, <br />2005. Subsequent to these interviews, one of the current members withdrew her application. <br />The ballots received as of noon on October 19 indicate five or more votes for only three <br />candidates; there is no apparent majority for the fourth vacancy. <br /> <br />Move to reappoint Jana Rygas to Position 1 on the Budget Committee for a three-year term <br />beginning November 1, 2005, and ending on October 31, 2008. <br /> <br />Move to appoint John Barofsky to Position 4 on the Budget Committee for a three-year term <br />beginning November 1, 2005, and ending on October 31, 2008. <br /> <br />Move to appoint Michael Biglan to Position 6 on the Budget Committee for a three-year term <br />beginning November 1, 2005, and ending on October 31, 2008. <br /> <br />Move to appoint ____________ to Position 8 on the Budget Committee for a three-year term <br />beginning November 1, 2005, and ending on October 31, 2008. <br /> <br />Planning Commission <br />There are two vacancies on the Planning Commission. Seven applications were received, <br />including one current member who wished to be reappointed. From this pool, the council chose <br />to reappoint one member in the initial round and to interview four other applicants on October 4, <br />2005. One applicant withdrew from consideration prior to the interviews.
