<br />RESOLUTION NUMBER 4653 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION TO OPPOSE THE NOVEMBER 2000 GENERAL ELECTION <br />BALLOT MEASURE 93 BY THE EUGENE CITY COUNCIL. <br /> <br />WHEREAS Ballot Measure 93 amends the State Constitution to require voters to <br />approve most taxes, and requires certain approval percentages, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the result of Ballot Measure 93 requires citizens to vote on any fee increase, <br />and if any fee increase passed by the city since December 6, 1998, is not retroactively approved, <br />the city may have to refund those fees to the payer of the same, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the effect of this measure may reduce Eugene's ability to provide the level of <br />services expected by its citizens, <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE, A Municipal <br />Corporation of the State of Oregon, that the Council does hereby go on record as opposing Ballot <br />Measure 93 and encourages other government bodies and citizens to do the same. <br /> <br />The foregoing resolution adopted this 10th day of October, 2000. <br /> <br />~---~ <br /> <br />Deputy City Recorder <br />
