ORDINANCE NO. J $~5~ <br />AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE MASONRY CpNTRACTOHS' <br />CODE ; AN~ENDTNG SECTLONS 8 , 4 ~, 5 r $ , 4 z 0 , $ . 4 2 5 AND <br />8.445 OF THE E~GEN'E CODE, 1971; REPEALING SECTION <br />8.435 OF THAT CODE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />THE CITY pF EUGENE. DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Sections 8.415, 8,420 and $.425 of the Eugene Code, <br />1971, are hereby amended to provide: <br />5.415 Title and Definition. <br />~ l ~ Sections 8.415 to S 4 4 45 shale. be known as the <br />Masonry Contractors' Code. <br />t2~ Masonry contractor. A person who engages in the <br />masonry construction business, including, but not limited to, <br />the laying of brick, cinder blocks, concrete blocks, pumice <br />blocks or any other masonry equivalent which requires the <br />setting of individual pieces with mortar. <br />8.420 Exemptions. A person constructing, altering, removing <br />or repairing any structure for his own use~or occupancy, <br />and who shall not have altered, constructed or repaired any <br />other structure within a sip--month period, shall be exempt from <br />the requirements of this code, except that a permit shall be <br />required. <br />8.425 Masonr Eoard ~ Creation, Duties, Procedures. <br />~l~ There is hereby crested a masonry board which shall <br />consist of three members appointed by the mayor, one member to <br />be appointed initially for three .years, one for two years, one <br />for one year and, thereafter, each new member to serve far three <br />years or until his or her successor has been appointed. The <br />building official shall be an ex officio board member and shall <br />act as secretary to the board. Each member shall be a licensed <br />masonry contractor or supervisor, a licensed professional en~- <br />gineer, architect, superintendent of building construction or <br />building contractor qualified by experience and training to <br />pass on matters pertaining to masonry construction. At no time <br />shall there be two board members from the same profession or <br />business and at all times at Least one board member shall be an <br />architect or engineer. <br />~2~ The duties of the board shall be to pass on the <br />applications of masonry contractors and masonry foremen far <br />licenses under the Eugene Code, 1971, and to hear complaints <br />against licensees. The board shall have the power to suspend <br />or revoke any license granted as provided in the Eugene Code, <br />1971 for failure to comply with its requirements. <br />ordinance - l <br />
