All proceeds support Eugene Public Library <br />programs and services, including Summer Reading for children and teens. <br /> <br />The Book Sale is the Friends of the Library’s major fundraiser each year. <br />During the course of the year, thousands of local readers donate items, and <br />over 300 volunteers work on the Book Sale. In 2009, the event took in nearly <br />$90,000 to support Eugene Public Library programs and services. <br /> <br />Shoppers can browse and choose from thousands of gently used and like-new <br />books – as well as DVDs, audio books, sheet music, and CDs. The bargain <br />prices will amaze: only $1 for most small paperbacks and $1.50 for most <br />hardbacks and large paperbacks. <br /> <br />The book sale will offer rare and specialty books in the “Individually Priced” <br />section, recent bestsellers in “Good as New”, and in the “Children’s” area, a <br />large selection of books, DVDs, and CDs. Book sets will be set aside and specially priced. Media tables will feature audio <br />books, DVDs, and a huge number of music CDs. <br /> <br />Parking and admission are free. For more information, contact the Eugene Public Library at 541-682-5450 or <br />www.eugene-or.gov/library. <br /> <br />Patrons Say It Best <br />Recreation staff are preparing the next Summer Recreation Guide - a <br />whopping 84 pages of activities, classes, programs and summer camps <br />for all ages and abilities. The guide also contains patrons’ stories <br />recounting their experiences with the Recreation program. <br /> <br />Carissa Whitsell’s story starts with a one-day tandem bike clinic for <br />people with vision impairments offered by Adaptive Recreation. That <br />one activity led her to win three gold, one silver, and two bronze medals <br />in tandem-racing at three Paralympics Games.
