The Envision Eugene Open Houses will be <br />held: <br /> <br />Feb. 3, 2011, 4 – 7 p.m., North Eugene High School Library, 200 Silver <br /> <br />Lane <br /> <br />Feb. 10, 2011, 4 – 7 p.m. Roosevelt Middle School Cafeteria, 680 East <br /> <br />24th Avenue <br /> <br /> <br />Participants can learn more about the draft proposal which will be available prior to the open house. The open house <br />events are designed to explain the proposed draft strategies and solicit public feedback. The public can also offer <br />feedback through the Envision Eugene website at www.EnvisionEugene.org. <br /> <br />For more information, please contact Terri Harding, Envision Eugene public involvement manager, at <br />terri.l.harding@ci.eugene.or.us or 541-682-5635. <br /> <br />Open Houses and Public Hearing Scheduled on West Eugene EmX <br />The Joint Locally Preferred Alternative Committee, including representatives from the Eugene City Council, <br />Metropolitan Planning Committee, and the Lane Transit District Board (LTD), is scheduled to reach a preliminary <br />recommendation on Jan. 31 on a preferred alternative to extend EmX bus rapid transit service to West Eugene. In <br />order for the public to have an opportunity to learn more about this preliminary locally preferred alternative, and to <br />provide feedback to the decision-makers, open houses are scheduled for Feb. 1 and Feb. 8. A joint public hearing <br />will be held immediately after the open house on Feb. 8. The Joint Locally Preferred Alternative Committee is then <br />expected to select its final recommendation at the group’s Feb. 14 meeting. <br /> <br />At the Feb. 8 public hearing, a quorum of all three decision-making bodies will be in attendance. This will give the <br />public an opportunity to address all the decision-makers at one meeting, and give the decision-makers an opportunity <br />to hear the testimony and discussion. <br /> <br />open house on Tuesday, Feb. 1 <br />The , will be held from4:00 - 6:30 p.m. in the Bascom-Tykeson Room at the <br />Eugene Public Library, 100 West 10th Avenue. <br /> <br /> open house/joint public hearing on Tuesday, Feb. 8, <br />Thewill be held at the Eugene Hilton, 66 East Sixth Avenue. <br />The open house runs from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m., and the joint public hearing is from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />After meeting with businesses, property owners, and residents, LTD has found ways to lessen many of the impacts <br />along the proposed alignments. Creative strategies include operating a portion of the route in mixed traffic, changing <br />course slightly to avoid trees, and other ideas that reduce or eliminate impacts on many properties.
