WEDNESDAY, JULY 21, 1948. THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER BY MA YOR .' <br /> MCNUTT. PRESENT AT ROLLCALL WERE - COUNCILMEN CRUIABAKER, ALLEN, WELLS AND HANNS. COUNCI LMEN <br /> ABSENT WERE HAWN, DAVIS, BAILEY AND JOHNSON. <br /> THE MATTER OF A REQUEST FOR THE INSTALLATION O~ A 6-FOOT CULVERT PIPE TO CARRY MILL RACE WATERS <br /> UNDER FRANKLIN BOULEVARD IN CONNECTION WITH THE CURRENT STATE HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT WAS <br /> I BROUGHT ON FOR CONSIDERATION. THE CITY MANAGER REPORTED THAT FIGURES ON THE COST OF SUBSTITUTING <br /> THE LAR GE SIZE PIPE IN PLACE OF THE 18-INCH LINE AS SPECIFIED BY THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT, <br /> WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY 84,500.00, NOT INCLUDING THE COST OF A CONTROL GATE AT THE NORTH ENTRANCE <br /> OF THE PIPE LINE WHICH WOULD HAVE TO BE INSTALLED TO PREVENT FLOODING OF THE AREA ALONG THE MILL <br /> RACE BETWEEN fRANKLIN BLVD. AND THE BROADWAY STREET BRIDGE. <br /> IT WAS MOVED BY HANNS, SECONDED BY CRUMBAKER THAT THE CITY REQUEST A CHANGE ORDER FOR INSTAlLA- <br /> TtON OF THE 6-FOOT CULVERT AND THAT THE STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION BE PETITIONED TO SHARE EQUALLY <br /> WITH THE CITY IN THE ADDITIONAL COST INVOLVED. ROLLCALL VOTE. ALL COUNCILMEN PRESENT VOTING AYE. <br /> HAWN, DAV IS, BAILEY AND JOHNSON ABSENT. <br /> THt CITY MANAGER REPORTED THAT A SUGGESTION HAD BEEN MADE FOR THE COMMON COUNCIL TO POSTPONE <br /> ITS MEETING SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, JULY 26, 1948, IN ORDER THAT THE COUNCIL AND CITY OFFICIALS MIGHT <br /> ATTEND THE TOWN HALL MEETING AT McARTHUR COURT, SCHEDULED FOR ;JULY 26, 1948 AT 8:00 P.M.
