Cone with the following councilmen <br />present: Dr. Purdy, Mrs. Lauris, Messrs. McNutt, Anderson, and Lassen, Mrs. Hayward, and Mr. McDonald. <br />Mr. Wingard was absent. <br /> <br />The minutes of the meeting held April 24, 1967, as mailed to Council members, were approved. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The City Manager announced a reception is to be held in the McNutt Room <br />May 15, 1967, for 15 Secondary Education advisors from South Viet Nam. <br />by the International Co-operation Committee, and members of the Council <br /> <br />at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, <br />The reception is sponsored <br />were invited. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Bids. 27th and High Property - Bids received for City-owned property at 27th and High were: <br /> <br />Gordon T. Olson <br />Douglas A. Larkins <br />Albert C. Jagger <br /> <br />$ 10,755 <br />9,750 <br />9,500 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager explained that this is the same property which previously was offered for <br />sale on which only one bid was received. There is a $1222 paving assessment against the <br />property. An informal appraisal indicated an approximate value of $17,000. <br /> <br />Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr. Anderson to reject the bids. Motion carried, Mr. Lassen voting no. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />Paving Rocky Lane - John Steinmuller of TransWestern Investors, Inc., owner of property <br />north of Rocky Lane, said this improvement was originally petitioned in 1964 by owners <br />of 53% of abutting properties. It was found at that time necessary right-of-way was not <br />in public owne~ship and, as a result, roadway dedication was obtained by July 1966 from <br />owners of 90% of abutting property. Mr. Steinmuller suggested the City proceed with the <br />project except for the portion abutting the property of Ronald G. Allen, who did not <br />convey the necessary right~of-way. A letter from McKenzie Road & Driveway was presented <br />stating they are willing to accept the contract, deleting the west 145 feet, at originally <br />bid unit prices if awarded before May 12, 1967. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Dr. Purdy to proceed with paving Rocky Lane, exclusive of the west 145 <br />feet.
