ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 53-16-01 of the City Manager of the City of Eugene EXTENSION OF TEMPORARY- SUSPENSION OF PARKING METERS IN DOWNTOWN AREA. The City Manager of the City of Eugene finds as follows: A. Section 5.040 of the Eugene Code, 1971, authorizes the City Manager or the Manager's designee to, among other things, take administrative action establishing parking meter zones and impose conditions upon which streets and other public property may be used for parking. B. In accordance with the City Council's August 11, 2010 direction, I suspended the parking meter zone within the boundaries depicted on the map attached as Exhibit A to this Order and I caused to be installed limited time parking signs within the same boundaries. The initial suspension of the parking meter zone was set to expire in October, 2012. Since that time, after determining that it was in the public interest, I have administratively adopted extensions to the parking meter zone suspension, most recently by Administrative Order No. 53-15-17, which will expire at the end of the day on January 31, 2016. C. Suspension of the parking meter zone should be extended so that it will remain in effect until a final decision is made about whether the program is in the public interest. D. Pursuant to the provisions and criteria contained in Sections 5.040-5.055 of the Eugene Code, 1971, in light of the conditions in the downtown area, I find that it is in the public interest to continue the suspension of the parking meter zone within the boundaries depicted on the map attached as Exhibit A to this Order, and that the suspension remain in effect until the end of the day on June 30, 2016. On the basis of these findings, I order that: The suspension of on -street parking meter zone within the area depicted on the map attached as Exhibit A to this Order is established and effective until the end of the day on June 30, 2016.
