MINUTES <br />Eugene City Council <br />Eugene Hult Center Lobby <br />Eugene, Oregon 97401 <br />January 9, 2016 <br />5:30 p.m. <br />Councilors Present: George Brown, Emily Semple, Betty Taylor, Alan Zelenka, George Poling, Mike <br />Clark, Greg Evans Claire Syrett, Chris Pryor <br />I. WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS <br />City Council President Greg Evans opened the 2017 State of the City and welcomed those present to <br />the event. He introduced the other members of the Council, the City's executive management team and <br />had other elected or appointed officials and other dignitaries stand to be recognized. <br />II. MUSICAL SELECTION <br />The Gerry Rempel Quintet performed "Cold Duck Time" by Eddie Harris. <br />III. VIDEO <br />A short video presentation highlighting the successes and accomplishments the City made in 2016. <br />IV. RECOGNITION OF OUTGOING CITY COUNCILOR GEORGE BROWN <br />Mayor Piercy and the City Council recognized the accomplishments of outgoing City Councilor George <br />Brown. <br />V. ADMINISTRATION OF OATHS OF OFFICE <br />Deputy City Recorder Chuck Crockett administered the oath of office to elected Mayor Lucy Vinis, <br />elected Councilor Emily Semple, Ward 1; re-elected Councilors Betty Taylor, Ward 2, Claire Syrett, <br />Ward 7, Chris Pryor, Ward 8. Ceremonial oaths for Eugene Water & Electric Board members Steve <br />Mital, Wards 1 and 8, Dick Helgeson Wards 2 and 3, and Sonya Carlson, Wards 6 and 7. <br />VI. 2016 BOLD STEPS AWARD <br />Mayor Vinis introduced the 2016 Bold Steps Award finalists with a short video on each company. <br />The finalists were: <br />• Hummingbird Wholesale <br />• PIVOT Architecture <br />• Luna and Larry's Coconut Bliss <br />Mayor Vinis announced that PIVOT Architecture was the winner of the 2016 Bold Steps Award. <br />MINUTES — Eugene City Council January 9, 2017 Page 1 <br />State of the City <br />
