<br />The regular meeting of the Common Council of the city of Eugene, Oregon was called to order at 7:30 p.m.
<br />on January 8, 1968 in the Council Chamber by Council President Glen Purdy in the absence of His Honor
<br />Mayor Edwin E. Cone. Other Council members present were: Mrs. Lauris, Messrs. McNutt, Anderson, and
<br />Lassen, Mrs. Hayward, and Mr. Wingard. Mr. McDonald was absent.

<br />Minutes of the December 11, 1967 Council meeting, as mailed to Council members, were approved.

<br />Election of Council President and Vice President
<br />Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. McNutt that Councilman Anderson be nominated for the
<br />position of President of the Council and that the nominations be closed and a unanimous
<br />ballot cast for Mr. Anderson. Motion carried unanimously.

<br />Councilman Anderson assumed the Chair.

<br />Mr. McNutt moved seconded by Mrs. Hayward that Councilman Lassen be nominated for the
<br />position of Vice President of the Council and that the nominations be closed and a
<br />unanimous ballot cast for Mr. Lassen. Motion carried unanimously.

<br />Mayor's Message, 1968 - In the absence of Mayor Cone, the City Manager read the Mayor's
<br />message for 1968. The message was received and filed.
