<br />Regular meetrng of the Common Council of the city of Eugene, Oregon was called to order by His Honor
<br />Mayor Edwin E. Cone at 7:30 p.m. on March 11, 1968 in the Council Chamber with the following council-
<br />men present: Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Lauris, Mr. McNutt, Mr. Lassen, Mrs. Hayward, and Mr. Wingard.
<br />Councilmen Purdy and McDonald were absent.
<br />
<br />Minutes of the Council meeting held February 26, 1968 and of zoning ordinance hearings held February 12
<br />and February 19, 1968, as mailed to Council members, were approved.

<br />
<br />Mayor Cone introduced Kang "Chris" Chul, a student from Chinju, Korea' attending the
<br />University of Oregon. Mr. Chul acknowledged the introduction and commented on the
<br />similarity between the sister cities of Eugene-and Chinju.

<br />Zoning Ordinance - The City Manager said, the. new zoning ordinance was edited and put into.
<br />final form for adoption. He said Articl~ 22 was deleted in its entirety except for the
<br />title~ to be broug~~ back for later'consideration when standards. necessary for enforcement
<br />have been estab'lished for flood haz~H;d.zon'es.

<br />The Manager tp,ld the Council he had been contacted by a group of engineers who said they
<br />felt the ord'inance was being rushed to adoption and that they had not had the opportunity
<br />to review the document in its final form. He sa-id. the Planning Commissiun-recommended
<br />proceeding with adoption as soon as possible, but if the Council wished to delay it should
<br />now be noted, otherwise the bill would be brought on for consideration at its regular place
<br />on the agenda later in the meeting. It was understood the Council would consider adoption
<br />of the ordinance at this meeting.
