<br /> The regular meeting of the Common Council of the city of Eugene, Or~gon was cal~ed to order at 7:30pm
<br /> .. on August 12, 1968 in the Council Chamber by'Council President Lester Anderson with the following
<br /> other councilmen present: Mrs. Lauris, Messrs. Purdy and Lassen, Mrs. Hayward, and Messrs. McDonald
<br /> and Wingard. Mayor Edwin E. Cone arriv~d later in the meeting. Councilman McNutt was not present,
<br /> but Councilman-elect Teague was present, taking his seat after being administered the oath'of office.
<br /> Minutes 'of the Council.meetings held July 15, 22, 29 and August 5, 1968, as mailed to Council-members,
<br /> were approved.
<br /> NEW BUSINESS
<br />1 Mrs. Lauris moved seconded by Mr. McDonald that Item 2 of the August 1, 1968 committee report be taken
<br /> out of order and approved. Motion carried.

<br /> Charles 'Teague - Mr. 'Anderson moved seconded by Dr.
<br /> "2. Appointment, Purdy to accept the
<br /> unanimous selection of Mr. Charles Teague to fill the Council position being vacated
<br /> by R. E. McNutt, Ward 4, for the term ending January 6, 1969. Mr. Teague was selected
<br /> from a field of six candidates; Motion carried.
<br /> Dr. Purdy moved seconded by Mr~' Lassen that Mr. Teague's term begin August 12, 1968. .'

<br /> The oath of office was administered to Mr. Teague by'the'City Recorder. Mr. Teague took his seat as
<br /> a Council member and expressed his appreciation for having been chosen to serve.
<br />2 Crest Heights Annexation - Councilwoman Laurisinquired about progress toward annexation of the Crest
<br /> Heights area. The City Manager explained that the State law covering annexation of health hazard
<br /> areas requires preparation of a preliminary plan for provision of sewers to be presented to t~e State
<br /> Sanitary Authority as well as.the 'governing body of the annexing agency. He said the City engineering
<br /> department is now developing a preliminary design, construction schedule, and cost estimates prepara-
<br /> tory to proceeding with the next step.
<br />3 Bills against the City for the period July 23 through August 12, 1968 were submitted and read:
