<br /> v . <br /> .. <br /> M I NUT E S <br /> e Eugene City Council <br /> Special Meeting <br /> McNutt Room, City Hall I <br /> August 15, 1984 <br /> 12:15 p.m. <br /> PRESENT: Council President Brian Obie (presiding), John Ball, Ruth Bascom, <br /> Debra Ehrman, Dick Hansen, Freeman Holmer, Emily Schue, Cindy Wooten, <br /> City Councilors; Pat Lynch, Eugene Development Department staff; <br /> Mark Matassa, Eugene Register-Guard; Bebe Krause, KEZI-TV. <br /> AGENDA TOPIC: Interviews of Downtown Commission Applicants; Appointment of <br /> Commissioner <br /> The council convened at approximately 12:30 p.m. and interviewed the following <br /> five candidates for a vacancy on the Eugene Downtown Commission: <br /> . Ronald Gi etter <br /> . Marilyn Odell <br /> . Dean A. Owens <br /> . Jeffrey Reingold <br /> . Joyce Slusher <br /> Each candidate was asked to respond to a series of questions distributed earlier, <br /> and to respond to additional follow-up questions from individual councilors. <br /> e The prepared questions appear on the meeting agenda, attached to these minutes. <br /> Following the interviews, each councilor had an opportunity to state his or her <br /> views regarding needs of the commission, the requirements of the position, and <br /> the skills and experience of the respective candidates. <br /> Following that discussion, each councilor cast a written ballot for the candidate <br /> of his/her choice. The results of that ballot were as follows: <br /> Marilyn Odell: 3 votes (by Councilors Ehrman, Schue, and Wooten) <br /> Dean Owens: 3 votes (by Councilors Ball, Holmer, and Obie) <br /> Jeffrey Reingold: 2 votes (by Councilors Bascom and Hansen) <br /> Additional discussion ensued, followed by a second ballot.
