Hamel,
Cynthia Wooten, and Emily Schue.
COUNCILORS ABSENT: Betty Smith and Eric Haws.
Adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was called
to order by His Honor Mayor Gus Keller.
1. ITEMS FROM MAYOR AND COUNCIL, APPOINTMENTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AGENDA ADJUSTMENTS
A. Property at 38th and Hilyard
Ms. Schue stated that she had received some information from the Joint Housing
Committee regarding some City-owned property at 38th and Hilyard which was
purchased with Community Development money about two years ago to promote
low-income housing. The City had an agreement with Lane County to build a
low-income project on that site. There have been two neighborhood meetings
e about this proposed project, and there is some opposition in the neighborhood to
the project. At this time the Lane County Housing Authority plans to proceed
with the project. The South Hills Neighborhood plans to oppose it.
B. Solar Energy Tax Credits
Ms. Miller stated that she had distributed a memo to the councilors to determine
how they would feel about sending a letter to the legislative delegation regard-
ing solar energy tax credits. She urged serious consideration of the measure
and noted that the City has been trying to develop a conservation program for
this area. She feels that some incentive is an important element of this
strategy. Council consensus was to support sending the letter.
C. Press Conference
Ms. Miller stated that she would be holding a press conference on Friday morning
at 10 a.m. in the City Council chamber.
D. House Owned by Gordon Elliott
Mr. Hamel requested the City Manager follow up on the condition of the house
on Washington Street owned by Gordon Elliott. This has been a problem in the
past and it continues to deteriorate, rather than improve.
e
MINUTES--Eugene City Council November 18, 1981 Page 1
