At the October 17, 2006, meeting <br />of the Human Rights Commission, the members nominated Hugh Massengill to serve in this <br />capacity. This recommendation was forwarded to the Mayor who nominates candidates to serve <br />on the Police Commission. The City Council appoints members to the Police Commission from <br />the nominations made by the Mayor. <br /> <br /> <br />RELATED CITY POLICIES <br />The boards, committees and commissions serve as advisory bodies to the City Council in the <br />development of various city policies. <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br /> <br />The City Council may: <br />1. Appoint applicant who has been nominated; or <br />2. Reject this nomination and ask the Mayor to submit another nomination. <br /> <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER’S RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />The City Manager has no recommendation on this item; the appointments are made by the council. <br /> <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTIONS <br /> <br />Move to appoint Hugh Massengill to Position 9 on the Police Commission for a three-year term <br />beginning November 1, 2006, and ending on October 31, 2009. <br /> <br />L:\CMO\2006 Council Agendas\M061211\S0612113C.doc <br />
