Mr. Fart said
that the last council had also been able to work together in a civil way.

Mr. Farr identified three goals for 1999 and beyond: 1) to work more closely with the local school
districts to help the districts leverage the services they provide, producing a product neither the
districts nor the City would be able to provide separately; 2) to build on the past work of the
Council Committee on Homelessness and Youth in providing assistance to youth, particularly
those least able to care for themselves; and 3) to strengthen the area's quantity of Iow-income
housing stock, both publicly subsidized housing and privately provided housing.

Mr. Farr stressed the importance of assisting those least able to care for themselves, and said he
hoped the council would continue to work on such issues.

MINUTES--Eugene City Council January 13, 1999 Page 1
11:30 a.m.
