ORDINANCE NO. l 9 6 6 fl <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE INSTITUTION of <br />PROCEEDINGS IN EMINENT DOMAIN FOR THE ACQUISI- <br />TION BY CONDEMNATION OF PROPERTY INTERESTS IN <br />OR ADJACENT To THE RIVERFRONT RESEARCH PARK <br />FOR THE PURPOSES OF CONSTRUCTION of STREET <br />IMPROVEMENTS, CONSTRUCTION of OTHER PUBLIC <br />FACILITIES, AND DEVELOPMENT OR REDEVELOPMENT; <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that: <br />The City Council has authority under provisions of the City <br />Charter and applicable state law to institute proceedings in <br />eminent domain for the acquisition by condemnation of private <br />property for public purposes, including the improvement of city <br />streets and construction of curbs, gutters, sidewalks and other <br />features, and including acquisition for construction of other <br />public facilities and for development or redevelopment. <br />The development of the Riverfront Research Park is a <br />cooperative intergovernmental effort between the City of Eugene, <br />the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Eugene, and the University <br />of Oregon. <br />In furtherance of the cooperative intergovenmental effort: <br />~a} The City of Eugene on September 11, 1955, and upon <br />the recommendation of the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of <br />Eugene, enacted Ordinance No. 19352 adopting the Urban Renewal <br />Plan for the Riverfront Research Park Plan} and further <br />implemented the Plan by enactment of ordinance No. 19470 <br />establishing the Riverfront Park Special Development District; <br />and <br />fib} The University of Oregon developed a Master Plan and <br />Ordinance - 1 <br />
