I_( <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE No. 19654; <br />EXTENDING THE MORATORIUM IMPOSED oN THE <br />ISSUANCE of CERTAIN SIGN PERMITS THEREIN;~- <br />.~1~ T~~Tn 'A ~T ~1tL7flnL~~Tny ~ , <br />Recitals: <br />A. an November 22, 1989, ordinance Na. 19654 was passed by <br />the Council and approved by the Mayor, which imposed a moratorium <br />on the issuance of certain sign permits fora period of ninety days <br />therefrom. <br />B. As indicated in Ordinance No. 19654, the Council found <br />imposition of the moratorium necessary while proposed revisions to <br />the Eugene Sign Code were being formulated and considered. <br />C. The Planning Commission held a public hearing on the <br />revised Sign Code on February 20, 1990, continued the hearing to <br />February 26, 1990, and left the record open for submission of <br />written testimony until March 2, 1990. The Planning Commission <br />felt it was necessary tv allow additional time for public comment <br />because of the extensive changes being proposed to the Sign Code. <br />D. The Planning Commission has completed its review, and the <br />Council is scheduled to hold a work session on the Sign Code on May <br />9, 1990, with a public hearing scheduled for May 14, 1990. These <br />dates are the earliest that the proposed Sign Code could be <br />scheduled for Council consideration. <br />E. The moratorium imposed by Ordinance No. 19654 will expire <br />vn March 22, 1990, and the Planning Commission has requested that <br />it be extended to July 31, 1990. It would appear to be in the <br />ordinance - 1 <br />
