INTERVIEW CANDIDATES FOR BUDGET COMMITTEE <br /> <br />The council interviewed the following candidates for positions on the Budget Committee: Sat Ganesha <br />Khalsa, Michael Biglan, Maurice Denner, Claire Syrett, and Michael Caprai. All candidates were asked the <br />following questions: <br /> <br />1. Why is it important to have a Budget Committee to review the City of Eugene's Budget? What is <br />the appropriate role for the citizen members of the committee? <br /> <br />2. In your view, what are the key issues facing the City and how would your participation on the <br />Budget Committee aid in addressing them? <br /> <br />3. The Budget Committee frequently receives competing funding requests from various well- <br />intentioned, deserving City programs and outside groups. What factors do you consider prior to <br />making funding decisions? Which factors are most influential? <br /> <br />4. Do you have suggestions for ways to improve citizen understanding of the City's financial condi- <br />tions, budget priorities, and process? <br /> <br />Mr. Poling thanked each candidate for applying for a position on a City board, commission, or committee, <br />and indicated the council would make its appointment of successful candidates on October 24. <br /> <br /> The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Dennis M.
