The council meets periodically for a discussion of its processes and operating agreements. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />One September 23, 2009, the City Council met to discuss the following items: <br /> <br />1.Council officer succession (Pryor) <br /> <br />2.Attending council meetings via conference phone (Solomon) <br /> <br />3.Citizen Involvement Committee (Zelenka) <br /> <br />4.Use of council office space (guidelines, courtesies) <br /> <br />5.Meeting safety (Ortiz) <br /> <br />6.Consulting with council before authorizing a public opinion poll (Brown) <br /> <br />7.Process to honor staff and community members (Zelenka) <br /> <br />8.Maximizing use of council work session time <br /> <br />9.City Council meeting minutes (detailed vs. summary vs. video) <br /> <br />10.New tools/technology for agenda materials, meeting records and minutes, goals and issues tracking <br /> <br />11.Mayor/City Council email distribution list <br /> <br />12.Inclusion of ordinances showing legislative/grammatical changes in agenda packets <br /> <br />In the time allotted, the council was only able to discuss the first eight items. This is an opportunity for <br />the council to continue its discussion of items 9 – 12. <br /> <br /> <br />RELATED CITY POLICIES <br />Elements of this item relate to the council goal of “effective, accountable municipal government.” <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br />The council may provide input and direction for staff follow-up on the issues discussed.
