�i <br />RESOLUTION NO.. <br />A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING EIGHT WARDS IN THE <br />CITY FOR PURPOSES OF CITY ELECTIONS, AND <br />REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 36136 <br />The. City Council of the City of Eugene finds that: <br />r <br />A. Section 6 of the Eugene Charter of 1976 provides for electing City Co uncil <br />members by wards, and Section 33 of the Eugene Charter of 1976 requires the City' <br />Council to divide the City into wards. <br />B. Section 2.962 of the Eugene Code, 1971 requires that the City be divided <br />into eight wards by resolution of the Council. <br />C. Section 2.966(3) of the Eugene Code, 1971 requires that four of the five <br />members of the Eugene Water &Electric Board (EWEB) be elected by wards. <br />D. In accordance therewith, on December 14, 1981 the Council adopted <br />Resolution No. 3613 establishing eight wards in the City. Annexations to the City and <br />increases in population since that time necessitates realignment of the ward boundaries of <br />the City. <br />E. Prompt realignment of the boundaries is necessary in order to elicit in a <br />timely manner candidacies for Council and EWEB offices. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CM COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE, a <br />Municipal Corporation of the State of Oregon, as follows: <br />Section 1. The City of Eugene is divided into eight wards, as shown on the map <br />attached as Exhibit A hereto and incorporated herein by reference. <br />Section 2. In- the event property is annexed to the City of Eugene in the area <br />North of the existing City limits and South of Beltline Road, electors residing within the <br />annexed area shall be assigned to Ward 7. <br />Section 3. In the event property is annexed to the City of Eugene in the area <br />North of Beltline Road and East of the Northwest Expressway, electors residing within the <br />annexed area shall be assigned to ward 5. <br />Section 4.
