Specifically, the council directed the
City Manager to ask whether 4J would accept input on the Civic Stadium site and asked the Mayor to
convene a committee to develop a recommendation. The council motion included the following
language: The council recognizes the value that historic properties contribute to community character
and livability and is aware of the needs of the 4J School District. The committee would explore a
possible public/private/nonprofit collaboration for the repair and repurposing of Civic Stadium and the
redevelopment of the rest of the site.

An ad hoc committee met on April 8. Among those joining Mayor Kitty Piercy and Councilors George
Brown and Alan Zelenka were representatives from the Save Civic Stadium group, Master Development
LLC, the Eugene YMCA, and Friendly Area Neighbors. A recommendation for a public/private/
nonprofit collaboration did not emerge in the meeting.

The Eugene 4J School Board is expected to hold regular and executive meetings in April and May,
leading to possible selection of a finalist for acquisition of Civic Stadium properties.

RELATED CITY POLICIES

-Growth Management Policies

-Effective, Accountable Municipal Government: A government that works openly,
collaboratively, and fairly with the community to achieve measurable and positive outcomes and
provide effective, efficient services.

COUNCIL OPTIONS

Options have not been identified at this time.
