Implementation Strategies <br /> <br />Ao <br /> <br />Collaborate with adjacent activity resources, including the U of O and the Lane <br />Events Center at the Fairgrounds to enrich the cultural and entertainment <br />opportunities available in and near downtown. <br /> <br />B. Promote visitor and convention use of existing facilities in and near downtown, <br /> including exhibit and meeting spaces, lodging and restaurants. <br /> <br />Encourage and support a stable arts community downtown. Review existing zoning <br />provisions and modify if necessary to remove obstacles to creative arts activities <br />downtown including live performance venues, artist live/work spaces, and galleries. <br /> <br />D. Seek new public art opportunities. Include public art into building design, street <br /> design, signs, and public open spaces' throughout downtown. <br /> <br />Recognize the importance of Eugene's historic buildings and places with signs, <br />plaques and pedestrian connections. Promote buildings, landmarks, or events that <br />have distinct historical value or special assets that contribute to the character of the <br />downtown. <br /> <br />Promote continued success of the Farmers' Market, Saturday Market, and Eugene <br />Celebration and other downtown events by supporting public/private partnerships <br />such as Eugene in Common. <br /> <br />G. Collaborate with the Lane County'Historical Museum to encourage a downtown <br /> location. <br /> <br />H. Research market potential and available incentives for major new cultural or <br /> recreational venues, such as a new art museum downtown. <br /> <br />Provide opportunities, progi:amming and financial tools to encourage activities along <br />the Great Streets and in the special places downtown, including performers, art <br />events, and street vendors. Include plans for rainy days. <br /> <br />J. Collaborate with Lane Arts Council to encourage and market art activities downtown. <br /> <br />K. Promote cultural and entertainment activities in parks and open space areas adjacent <br /> to downtown, including Skinner Butte Park and West Alton Baker Park. <br /> <br />L..
