MINUTES <br />Eugene City Council <br />Harris Hall, 125 East 8 1 h Avenue <br />Eugene, Oregon 97401 <br />February 19, 2014 <br />12:00 P.M. <br />Councilors Present: George Brown, Betty Taylor, Alan Zelenka, George Poling, Mike Clark, Chris <br />Pryor, Claire Syrett, Greg Evans <br />Mayor Piercy opened the February 19, 2014, City Council work session. <br />A. WORK SESSION: Beverly Property <br />Public Works Executive Director Kurt Corey introduced the item and provided an overview of the <br />PROS Bond measure and the intended use of those funds. <br />MOTION: Councilor Taylor, seconded by Councilor Brown, moved to direct the City <br />Manager to offer to purchase the Beverly property consistent with the financial <br />considerations to be discussed during the executive session. <br />MOTION AND VOTE: Councilor Clark, seconded by Councilor Poling moved to table this <br />discussion until other conversations have taken place and it's a more appropriate time. <br />PASSED 5:4, Councilors Pryor, Brown, Taylor and Zelenka opposed; Mayor Piercy broke <br />the tie in favor. <br />MOTION: Councilor Pryor, seconded by Councilor Evans, moved to direct the City <br />Manager to offer to engage in conversations with persons interested in contributing <br />substantial funds toward a purchase of the Beverly property and then return to the <br />council. <br />A friendly amendment to request more information about the SDC's park list and options to <br />buy one or more of the Beverly lots, in various combinations, was accepted. <br />VOTE: PASSED 8:0. <br />B. WORK SESSION: Review of 2013 Implementation of Bond Measure to Fix Streets <br />Public Works Executive Director Kurt Corey introduced the item and provided a historical look at <br />the funding source, project list, financial audit, community review team's annual report, jobs <br />created and quality of work.
