RELATED CITY POLICIES <br />The boards, committees and commissions serve as advisory bodies to the City Council in the <br />development of various city policies. <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br />The City Council may <br />1. Appoint applicants who have been nominated; or <br />2. Appoint other applicants from the pool, or <br />3. Seek additional candidates for these positions. <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATION <br />The City Manager has no recommendation on this item; the appointments are made by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTIONS <br />Planning Commission <br />There are two vacancies on the Planning Commission. Eleven applications were received and of <br />those, six candidates were interviewed. No incumbents wished to be reappointed. <br /> <br />Move to appoint Randall Hledik to Position 2 on the Planning Commission for a four-year term <br />beginning November 1, 2004, and ending on October 31, 2008. <br /> <br />Move to appoint Phillip Hudspeth to Position 3 on the Planning Commission for a four-year term <br />beginning November 1, 2004, and ending on October 31, 2008. <br /> <br />Human Rights Commission <br />There are eight vacancies on the Human Rights Commission. Twenty-nine applications were <br />received, two from current members who requested reappointment. Eleven persons were <br />interviewed for the positions. <br /> <br />Move to reappoint Surendra Subramani to Position 2 on the Human Rights Commission for a <br />three-year term beginning November 1, 2004, and ending on October 31, 2007. <br /> <br />Move to reappoint Dwight Souers to Position 6 on the Human Rights Commission for a three- <br />year term beginning November 1, 2004, and ending on October 31, 2007. <br /> <br />Move to appoint Ibrahim Hamide to Position 1 on the Human Rights Commission for a three-year <br />term beginning November 1, 2004, and ending on October 31, 2007. <br /> <br />Move to appoint Judith Castro to Position 3 on the Human Rights Commission for a three-year <br />term beginning November 1, 2004, and ending on October 31, 2007. <br /> <br />Move to appoint Elizabeth Ayedelott to Position 12 on the Human Rights Commission, the <br />unexpired term of Sheila Coats, for a term beginning upon appointment and ending on October <br />31, 2006. <br /> L:\CMO\2004 Council Agendas\M041108\S0411087.doc <br /> <br /> <br />
